A complete redesign of the gardens of Pazo da Buzaca, an event venue and hotel operated by Pepe Vieira group, Moraña, Pontevedra, Galicia.
Set in a spectacular location surrounded by lush nature and layers of history, this project involved a comprehensive redesign of the existing gardens to adapt them to their new use as an events and celebrations venue for the Pepe Vieira group. Garden paths were reconfigured to connect new buildings and spaces, new paving was laid, water rills were designed along with structural supports for the planting and a new lighting scheme. The planting intervention took a conservative approach, respecting the identity of the original pazo garden and ensuring its continuity over time.
The entrance area receives visitors and guides them towards the manor house or the newly renovated events hall. Verde Leria sought to enhance the presence of water, naturally abundant on the estate, by constructing a channel that runs parallel to the path. Its movement and sound set the tone for the stream that awaits further down the grounds.
Along this route, a series of lightweight pergola structures, anchored to existing stone pillars, add rhythm to the journey. They integrate the lighting which helps create a different scene entirely as the sun goes down.
In the garden surrounding the renovated events hall, Verde Leria proposed a complete redesign of the existing shrub layer and paving. The geometric lines of the original planting were reinterpreted in a new configuration of single-species bands in varying shades of green.
